Reviews of the Banshee A Little Late to Grow a PairFinally, The Rock has comeback... I'm just kidding.
As usual, don't read this unless you've seen the episode.
After a major roadblock on the fourth episode, Banshee finally seems to be back on track, at least a little bit.
I'll start with Eliza Dushku, her portrayal of Veronica Dawson will not go down as one of the best performances on TV, but I'm actually interested to see if there's more to her character than we've saw (let's just forget she smokes crack/meth or whatever guys, seriously, let's just forget about that *throws rock at Yaitanes and Tropper*).
Her character could actually be the one to bring Hood's real identity to light, and that's where the focus of this story should be, on the main character, not on satanism, Nazis or whatever we've seen before on TV Shows that went badly (those clichés are probably the only two that Banshee just can't do better, just bury both of those ideas already, I don't even wanna cover it on this review, it's just bad, weird and all).
Anyway, speaking of the pros of this episode, not of some weird fight scene or Proctor scaring Amish people (with a freaking chainsaw, glad they didn't kill the horse), Antony Starr is definitely on his best on one of the worst moments of the show, basically because they're letting him act, even though I missed all the fighting this show used to had, his conversation with Job and him remembering Siobhan (I probably miss her more than he does) were very well-written, he also makes Dawson tolerable on their scenes, specially because she's probably not in town just for the serial killers (I'm not covering their scenes until they're gone, seriously).
On the Nazi storyline, Watts was probably there just to put Calvin over for a fight with Kurt and a war with Proctor, I mean, what a cool and casual way to kill off a character that shouldn't even be part of the show since there was no reason to introduce him in a final season, if they had time, he probably could've been good, but here's something for Banshee writers to understand next time they write anything in the future: YOU HAD NO TIME TO INTRODUCE A MILLION CHARACTERS, but I can't blame them, even Justified and Breaking Bad had their flaws on their final seasons (I'm a fan of the first one, don't like the second one that much but I admit they're good, overrated, but good). Well, at least is not Dexter, thank god is not bad as dexter, is just a waste of time, but still not bad, right Doakes?
Speaking of wastes of time, here's something again Tropper, Yaitanes: JUST LET THE HOT AMISH GIRL GO, SHE'S DEAD! Guess what? you don't have time for that many flashbacks, bearded Hood was good, I was curious about the killers for a second, but now they're revealed, just let the flashbacks go, we don't need them. You know why you're not done with flashbacks yet? Because you still wanna show us how Rebecca suffered, just like you kept showing her corpse for the last 5 episodes, let the poor girl go, dammit.
Anyway, I hope now they had made good use of the final three episodes and somehow manage to focus on ending those story lines, bring the cartel to Banshee and expose Hood and HIS background, that's what the final season should've been about, your main character, yes Yaitanes, this show DOES have a main character.
About Brock: He's awesome and he excels every scene he's in, him, Job and Sugar are the true heart and soul of this show, and until now, there wasn't even enough of them this season.
Please, just vanish Nazis and serial killers for 10 years out of any story, maybe they'll be interesting again, they're getting just as overused as terrorists, seriously.
Antony Starr (Lucas Hood).
Chris Coy (Calvin Bunker).
Matt Servitto (Brock Lotus).
Hoon Lee (Job).
The Ghost of Siobhan Kelly (okay, flashback of Siobhan Kelly) (Trieste Kelly Dunn).
Tom Pelphrey (Kurt Bunker).
Chance Kelly (Randall Watts - wrong season buddy, seriously, don't come back).
Matthew Rauch (Clay Burton). - deserves a spot for being cool and being against horse killing.
